Winter; the deciduous trees have shed their lush foliage which has opened a seasonal window to the sky.

As the sun began to peak over the horizon, its warm distant glow stood in stark contrast to the snow.  Sunlight is a precious commodity during the cold winter months.  Especially this time of year when daylight grows ever shorter, and the cold, cold nights grow ever longer.

It is worth noting behind every cloud there is a silver lining, and the setting sun is not an exception to this rule.  At the end of the day when he bows out and the dark curtain of night is drawn. One by one a star studded cast of brilliant twinkling lights will begin to appear. When they have taken center stage all thoughts of the long cold winter night will be forgotten.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
