In The Woods Home Decor – Repurposing

Main entry decorated with refurbished and gifted items

Our main entry has a closet (in the background) and an area to take off or put on your shoes or boots.

Taking a walkabout a second hand store I shopped for items that would be both serviceable and compliment our in the woods home decor.  I found several  items that fit the bill.  A chair, table, and a vintage mason canning jar filled with marbles.  All three items were purchased for under $25.

Painting the chair and table a vintage purple brightened and added contrast in the seating area.  Both doilies were crocheted by family members.  A refurbished juice can was artfully reassigned the role of a candle holder (gift).  The entry rugs were woven by a local craftsman.

The cricket sculpture was a housewarming gift.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
