Back In The Day – Arachnophobia

Lights out! A gargantuan spider filled the glowing, flickering screen.  Huddled together eating popcorn, we watched in horror as the beast slowly climbed over the rock with jaws clicking.  Spider bait, the people below were stricken, immobilized by fear.  They screamed, we screamed. Having two older brothers, the saga didn’t end when the screen went blank.  They kept the series going, teasing me with live nasty spiders.

Seeing the same movie as an adult, the special effects are not believable. The underlining thrill of watching a late night black and white horror flick.was symbolic.  It was a rite of passage to stay up all night, long after your parents had gone to bed.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
