The Big C – Control the Things You Can

Control the things you can.. Sage advice when engaged in a battle with cancer.  There are so many things that are out of your control.  Cancer treatment (and its energy zapping side affects) can dictate when you eat, how you eat, where you spend your time, and with whom you spend your time.

As you regroup to take on the Big C, control the remaining precious unscripted hours.  How you spend this time should be nonnegotiable, and should be all about you. Well intended friends and family that want to plan your free time, can over extend your reserve energy, and this is not helpful.   Spend that precious energy reserve on whatever activity relaxes your body, calms your mind, and renews your spirit.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
