The House That Jack Built – Follow the Light

Hardwood Floor Transition

As discussed in a previous post….. choosing how to lay a hardwood floor presents a conundrum, which way to lay the planking.  Run the board with the flow of traffic or across the joists, run the boards the length of the room or to the natural light source.  We choose the latter, running our planking toward the natural light source

Alignment of the planking with the natural light source presented another problem. How to make the transition when changing floor direction?  We considered a host of possibilities.

In our opinion, butting the board up against the intersecting board complimented our overall interior design.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
