The House That Jack Built – Sneak Peek

Installation of the Upper Kitchen Cabinets

With the kitchen layout in hand, we planned our upper kitchen cabinet installation.

Selecting a standard height of 84 inches; the height and stud location were marked on the wall. Next 2×4 boards were anchored temporarily to the wall where the base of the cabinet would rest.

Beginning with the corner cabinet, each cabinet in turn was lifted and set on a board to steady the unit as it was screwed to the wall.

After all the upper cabinets were installed the support board underneath was removed.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
