The House That Jack Built – House of Many Colors

House of Many Colors

What is wrong with the house in this picture?

Definitely two different colors of green, which I did not detect until the paint dried!

Apparently the paint gods were out to punish me for neglecting to paint by the rules.  BUT, in my defense.  All the paint was formulated and purchased at one time from a paint store.

First, I never thought to do a color sample of each gallon before applying the paint to the house.  I just assumed all the paint would be the same (I know, I know, at this stage in my life, I should know better then to assume).

Second, always paint a couple of boards all the way across, then move on to the next set.  Well…..here I have to admit when I reached the area above the window(s), I was pretty tired of climbing up and down the ladder.  AND, up near the top, I was feeling a bit unsteady.  So…..when I was up there, I painted all the surface area I could reach with out dismounting the ladder.  Of course, this is where I ran out of paint, and I had to open a new can .

Moral of this story, paint by the rules.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
