Farmers Almanac

Canned; Green Beans, Tomatoes, Peaches

If one were to believe the Farmers Almanac, we should be as busy as the mice.  They have invaded my house, storing all manner of seeds for the long, cold winter ahead.  This fall, I find myself sharing that primal urgency to prepare for winter.

There is definitely something in the air, my allergies are on high alert.  Usually they do not go in to hyperdrive until late fall.  This year is an exception.  I have begun coughing my way through the day, and I rarely get a full restful night sleep.

Naturally, this has made me a bit apprehensive about the progress on our house.  Please don’t get me wrong, everything is on schedule. But if the onset of winter is early, I will be hard pressed to get all the outside painting and staining done before the cold weather.brings that activity to an abrupt halt.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
