Backfield in Motion

Backfield in Motion

Looking out across the lush purple blossoms dotting an alfalfa field.  I could barely believe my eyes.

With thousands upon thousand of blossoms to choose from, two hummingbirds sparred over the right to the entire field!  Zooming here, then there, it was difficult to discern which bird was defending, which was invading.

The territorial, greedy little birds warred on, taking their fight to the nectar feeder. I’m not sure whether it has the angry hum of their beating wings or a nanosecond of visual recognition.  But I heeded the warning, and quickly pulled back as they flashed by.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
