The Clan

Let’s go fly a kite

Leprechauns greeted the visitors entering Point Beach State Park. The 54th celebration of family had begun.

The pace of new arrivals picked up as the appointed dinner hour approached. The gathering clan assembled in a nearby lodge where tables held a never ending smorgasbord of potluck dishes.

After dinner, everyone moved outdoors.  Some pulled up chairs to sit and visit.  The more energetic played volleyball or went to the beach to swim or walk along the shoreline.

Checking out the waves

Of course there were those special memorable moments….two frail elderly sisters held hands for support as they navigated the uneven ground.  It didn’t take a stretch of the imagination to envision them as young girls holding hands as an expression of love and camaraderie.
Like Thelma and Louise, the cousins ran hand in hand toward the water. The crashing waves broke their stride, but not their pact to honor the adventuresome spirit of a favored Aunt.

Down in my basement, lined neatly on a shelf are handwritten notebooks chronicling my life. After years of writing, the experience became more of a burden then an important part of my day so I quit writing. Five years later I took up writing again. This time it was in the form of a blog which gave me a place to hang out after I lost my job. From there my blog content morphed into writing about my general contractor experience building our house. As my life experiences grew so did my blog.
